Abstract In this study, the mechanical response of HTPB propellant grain under ultra-high loads is investigated. The low, intermediate and high strain rate uniaxial compression tastings (1.7×10 −4 ~3×10 3 s −1 ) hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) at room temperature were carried out by using universal testing machine split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system, respectively. tests cellular rubber, EPDM rubber felted wool out. A linear viscoelastic constitutive model was developed test data. property studied dynamic overloads simulated with finite element method. deformation overload studied. result shows when value maximum, stress maximum. location where maximum center inner hole cushion. 20.17MPa.
